Buy X, Get Y at a discount

  • Updated

Example: Buy a Helmet, Get 50% Off a Bottle

This promotion type allows you to give a percentage discount on a different product when a qualifying item is added to the cart. In this example, customers who buy a helmet will get 50% off a bottle.

This is managed using the Multi-buy / Mix & Match discount promotion type in Omnium.

Step-by-Step: Set Up the Promotion

  1. Go to Orders → Promotions

  2. Click Create

  3. Select Multi-buy / Mix & Match discount as the promotion type

Fill in the Campaign Details:

  • Name: Helmet and Bottle combo
  • Description: Buy helmet – 50% on bottle
  • Valid from / until: Set campaign dates
  • Priority: Set a number (e.g., 10)
  • Markets: Select the relevant market(s)

Configure Trigger and Discount Logic

In the Reward section:

  • Required number of items: 1 (buy 1 helmet)
  • Number of discounted items: 1 (get 1 bottle at a discount)
  • Discount: 50%
  • Under Categories, select Bottles (this defines what the discount applies to)

This means:
When a customer adds a helmet to the cart, they get 50% off a bottle.

If the customer adds multiple bottles, only one will be discounted unless the promotion is duplicated or configured to handle more quantity.

Define Which Products Trigger the Discount

In the Category section:

  • Selected categories: Add Helmets (this is what the customer needs to buy to trigger the discount)
  • Leave Required categories and Excluded categories empty unless needed

You may also filter using Brand, Season, or Product-level rules if applicable.

Optional: Combination Settings

In the left-hand panel:

  • Can be combined: Enable if this discount should work with other active promotions
  • Always apply: Only needed if this promotion should override non-combinable discounts
  • Customer club: Enable if the offer is exclusive to customer club members
  • Coupon code: Enable and define a code if this should be manually activated at checkout

Final Step

Click Save to activate the campaign.
