In some sales situations, automatic discounts from the promotion engine can get in the way of offering the right price to the customer. By default, the promotion engine in the cart will apply any active campaigns to the products, updating the prices automatically. While this is helpful in most cases, there are times when you need full control over the prices.
To make this possible, it's now supported to deactivate the promotion engine in the cart. This allows you to remove campaign discounts and adjust prices manually.
Typical use cases include:
- Sending a price offer with custom prices based on volume or special agreements
- Giving business customers the correct prices according to their contracts, regardless of online campaigns.
- Adjusting product prices freely while the cart is still in the offer stage.
How to deactivate the promotion engine
- Navigate to edit -> discounts -> deactivate promotion engine
- Each order line included in an active promotion will be set to 'Excluded from promotion engine'.
- You can click the three-dot menu → Edit → Prices to see the promotion engine flag on the order line.
- It's now possible to adjust the discount without the promotion engine automatically updating the order lines.
- If you add new products to the cart, you need to click 'Deactivate Promotion Engine' again for it to apply to the newly added products.
